Spring Wildfire Season is Here
Due to the unusually mild winter, the danger of grass and brush fires is especially high this spring. We ask Pawlet residents to be especially cautious with fire until the woods green up, and we'd like to remind everyone that a permit is required to burn brush piles. To obtain a permit, please contact Dale Decker, Pawlet's forest fire warden.
We thank Pawlet's residents for their cooperation, and for their continued support of our fire department.

Mother's Day Brunch
The annual Mother's Day Brunch returns to the firehouse on Sunday, May 13th. Treat mom (or yourself) to a hearty breakfast of eggs, potatoes, bacon, juice and coffee, all served up by our volunteer firefighters. All proceeds support the fire department. Brunch will be served from 8-11am.

Have a Pond? Consider Installing a Dry Hydrant this Spring!
A dry hydrant is a non-pressurized pipe system that allows the fire department to draft water quickly and easily, year round. If you have a pond on your property, adding a dry hydrant can make all the difference in the event of a fire, saving firefighters precious minutes, and in turn saving property and even lives. It can also lower your insurance premiums and enhance the safety of your neighbors as well. A dry hydrant on your land is good for your safety, good for your wallet, and good for your community.
Each spring, grant programs to cover the cost of dry hydrant installation are avalible, and the PVFD is always seeking possible sites for new hydrants. If you have a pond that you think may be a good candidate, please contact us!
